Interview – Sir-Vere

Hi Sir-Vere and welcome to College Radio Charts! How has 2025 been treating you so far?
Thus far a really cool start for us we have been finishing 3 albums of material which this track ADORE is a part of. We also have another synth driven track called REBOUND / IGGY out May 26th which is very exciting.

Before we dive in, can you take a moment and introduce us to the band?
Craig White (Vocals , Lyrics)
Gary Morland (Guitars , Synths , Production)
Stevie Vega (Synths , DJ)
Ian McEwan (Vocals)

How did Sir-Vere end up coming together? Did you know one another before you became a band?
I formed the band and then after a few demo’s decided to reach out. Gary Morland joined as guitar player but has since learnt the craft to produce most of our music. Stevie joined from our side project the Secret Screens on synths and resident DJ.

Your new single “Adore” has just been released. With so many layers in your music—punk, electronica, poetry, protest—what comes first when you’re building a new track? Can you walk us through the process of writing and recording the track?
New songs come from many angles Gary spends lots of time working on ideas which I then write my lyrics to then we craft the track. Stevie also throws in many tracks and ideas which we include.

Was the process for “Adore” similar to how the band typically works?
This track was a little different for us. Gary demo’d the track which I really loved but we decided to get VODZILLA one of our superfans to produce mix the track. In the end we decided to do a full album with him VODZILLA the SIR-VERE Files which is coming out soon.

You’ve cited Chemical Brothers, Nine Inch Nails, and The Prodigy as influences—but “Adore” doesn’t feel like imitation. What makes your approach to electronic rock distinct from the legends you admire?
We know no limitations we have a Punk ethic not driven by others only by ourselves. That’s why we switch it up between Rock & Dance some lead to Dancefloors some to a mosh pit.

Milton Keynes isn’t exactly known as a musical Mecca. How has coming from there shaped your sound, perspective, or sense of identity?
Milton Keynes is a cool spread out grid like City which you can get about easily in. Many many bedroom producers & DJ’s in MK and a good Rock scene also. You have to travel to get seen London is near by which helps.

Adore comes with a pair of remixes, which are fantastic compliments to the original track. How do you decide who gets to reinterpret your work— and what makes a remix worthy?
We have always been keen on getting remixes and alternate mixes of our tracks. The last album LOVESCOPE had in the region of 120 remixes which some have been released. Currently finishing a great Prefix Sum alternate version.

“Adore” sounds both industrial and intimate, like you’re dancing with ghosts. How do you balance aggression with vulnerability in your songwriting?
Keeping the edge all important as I’ve said before ‘Freedom on the Edge’ I write as if I’m in my own bubble.

The underground scene feels like it’s shifting again—between AI generated pop and TikTok virality. Where do you see Sir-Vere fitting into that chaos?
Keep doing our thing our thang Yes little bit of Ai will help but not making our beats our sound.

Do any of you come from musical families? Growing up, what are your earliest musical memories?
My Dad is the worlds greatest Karaoke singer (Joking x) . Early memories of Reading Festival and coming to New York on Lollapalooza tour was wicked.

How did working with Doc Moody and recording at R2D Funk MK elevate or shape “Adore” in ways fans might not expect?
Doc Moody puts the final gloss with his Mastering a great guy.

Any advice for new artists just starting out that you wish you had received?
New artists should think out of the box have direction from themselves and always keep it FUN. The business side of this industry sucks.

What’s next for Sir-Vere? Any live performances planned?
Looking at shows getting a team together to spread the word our focus the shows will come.

Thank you so much for spending some time with us today and congrats on the new release! Where can people go to find out more about you and your music?
We are available on most sites trying to get more traffic to our bandcamp page. Cheers Craig
