Hi Restlezz and welcome to College Radio Charts! How has your 2025 been so far?
It’s been good so far just trying to stay consistent with everything I’m doing
Congrats on the new EP, Troublesome Two! How did the collaboration with Lazie Locz come about for this project?
Thank you I appreciate it! It came about from Lazie hitting me up and wanting to do a project together. I’ve bought beats from him in the past and we respect what each other do so we put something together.
The lead single “All Cap” is heavy and direct. What inspired the concept behind that track?
Wanting to speak on artists not staying true to who they are or what they represent. Calling them out for being all capping their raps.
Did you come from a musical family? What are some of your earliest musical memories?
My family wasn’t into playing or making music but big fans of listening to it. Some of my earliest musical memories are of me performing the CDs I had to listen to in my room.
You’ve been grinding in Ogden’s scene for a long time now. How do you feel the Utah hip-hop scene has evolved since you first started?
I feel like it’s grown tremendously from when I started. It feels like Utah is starting make a place in hip-hop.
As an artist, producer, and engineer, how does being hands-on with your craft shape the final sound of your music?
It’s nice cuz everything turns out how I want it to. How I like to record and listen for things to redo or whatever it’s just nice not to feel rushed like when you’re paying for studio time.
“Trust Issues” closes the EP on a pretty personal vibe. Was it important for you to bring more emotional honesty to this project?
Ya just trying to hit a little on more real topics to keep the fans interested and let them learn a little more about us as artists.
You started writing rhymes at 13 with your cousin Sandman. How does that early grind still influence your work ethic today?
It reminds to keep going hard everyday like I did in the beginning.
You’ve worked with big names like Yo Gotti, Mistah F.A.B., and Bizarre. What’s the biggest lesson you’ve taken away from collaborating with these artists?
That there’s different level to this game and there’s more then one way to make something happen for yourself.
Coming from a group like Twizted N Wicked, then starting Block Monzta Productions — what did going independent teach you about the music industry?
That’s it’s a tough, rough road. But you have to keep at it even when things don’t just work out the way you hoped.
Being a free agent now, do you feel more pressure or more freedom when it comes to dropping music?
Kind of both it’s a lot of pressure doing everything yourself but it’s nice because you have total control and freedom of your artistic craft.
What is your current favorite piece of gear in the studio?
My interface… it’s never let me down and still produces great sound.
For people just now tapping into your movement through Troublesome Two, what three words would you use to describe Restlezz as an artist?
Consistent. Dedicated. Authentic.
The title Troublesome Two feels like a nod to the old-school “outlaw duo” vibe. Was that intentional?
Naw, Honestly it was just the best sounding name we came up with
With the track “Got It On Me”, there’s a clear street narrative. How do you balance telling real stories with staying creative and fresh?
As long as you don’t exaggerate what your doing or what you’ve seen I think you’ll be good.
You’ve been in magazines, done shows, and had plenty of features — what moment in your career so far has meant the most to you personally?
Being able to appear on the biggest hip-hop station in the state to show my music on a wide stage.
There’s a rawness and hunger in your delivery that’s rare today. How do you keep that same fire alive after all these years grinding?
I just stay true to what I do. And because I love to do this.
Who are some of your biggest influences? Any dream collaborators you’d like to work with?
Tupac, T.I, Tech N9ne, Woodie, Wiz Khalifa. I would love a Wiz Feature that’d be dope.
What’s next for Restlezz in 2025 after the Troublesome Two EP?
Shows, more music, more radio play, I have a lot coming.
Thank you so much for spending some time with us today! Where can people go to find out more about you and your music?
Anywhere you listen to music you can find me.
