“Right Today”
Mastalokey’s latest single, “Right Today” dropped in July and really feels like a great summer jam. Incredibly chill and slow in it’s initial burn, the first 20 seconds of the 2:40 track are very sparse, with just a few hawk (I think) noises before the song really kicks in. Great beats and a laid-back vocal delivery keep you wanting to pressing repeat as soon as the song starts to fade out. Perhaps it’s the playful cartoon image accompanying the track on youtube, but “Right Today” really does have a relaxed yet very positive vibe, with plenty of strong lyrics for those looking for an affirming message with their music. And there are plenty of bells and whistles in the production as well, keeping our ears always finding something new to latch on to with each listen.
Coming out of Richmond, VA, Mastalokey’s “Right Today” will be featured on his new mixtape coming soon and we cannot wait to check out more from this talented artist.
