Outer Space Experiment -My Own Universe

OUTER SPACE EXPERIMENT
“My Own Universe”

An international band with roots in Bulgaria, Outer Space Experiment hits hard. The debut single, “My Own Universe” dropped on August 19th and is already gaining an impressive number of streams on Spotify. Coming in at 6:22, Outer Space Experiment takes it’s time constructing a very solid offering to the post rock/metal scene.

The group is the brainchild of Bulgarian guitarist and producer Todor Todorov, who recruited drummer Zamm Kenoby (France) and singer Eric Castiglia (Italy). Alice in Chains immediately comes to mind with singer Eric Castiglia having a similar vocal style to the late Layne Staley. The striking harmonies on the track also hearken back to AIC. Musically, Outer Space Experiment also shares some DNA with Jane’s Addiction, with a powerful bass breakdown right before the song really kicks in, à la “Falling Down the Mountain.” Each member brings plenty to the table and you can tell the band grew up on a healthy diet of Metallica and Tool with some Pink Floyd sprinkled on top for just a bit of psychedelic seasoning.

The artwork reinforces the prog rock vibes, with an image of a metallic double helix shape over a desert with a field of stars behind, equal parts 2001: A Space Odyssey and Dune. Intelligent, symbolic and very clever, just like the music.

“My Own Universe” is available now on all major streaming platforms. You can find out more about Outer Space Experiment here.
